Harleys Furrytail Beautique was established in 2012, when the owner and Director Harley Kirkpatrick discovered a passion and love for dog grooming. Harleys goal was to provide a professional, loving and stress-free environment for dogs to be fully pampered, whilst tailoring services to suit both owners requirements and the dogs individual needs.
Over the past 9 years Harleys Furrytail Beautique has expanded, with 4 salon locations across Northamptonshire and Leicestershire with a dedicated team which Harley has supported and trained, helping and encouraging them to achieve personal career goals as groomers and stylists. Harleys Furrytail Beautique proudly won the ‘Small Business of the Year’ award at the Corby Business Awards in 2019.
Now opening The Furrytail Training Academy, this has combined Harleys passion for grooming and teaching to provide students with a positive training experience in a modern, highly rated salon, giving them all of the tools, tips and tricks required to enhance or start their careers in dog grooming.

iPET Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management
Course Cost £5000 - Duration 30 Days
The NEW iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management qualification is now available at the Furrytail Academy. The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management Qualification includes additional elements which are unique to its syllabus. This qualification is rounded and robust for those wanting to enter into the Dog Grooming Industry and we highly recommend this course for those wishing to gain employment as a stylist or start their own dog grooming business.
The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management is a nationally recognised, regulated by Ofqual and on the UK educational framework. It is also your route to becoming a ‘Fully Qualified’ Dog Groomer and enables you to gain a listing on the prestigious Groomers Spotlight.
The course is delivered over 30 days of practical training with additional theory work to be completed at home. Candidates will groom a minimum of 20 dogs, 10 different breeds, covering 6 different coat types but often many more. There are no pre-requisites to starting the course, meaning you can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first which can be a huge cost saving to students.
Students will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping and nail trimming and the qualification course includes hand-stripping.

On your course, you are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework meaning you don’t have to sit a daunting exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by novice dog groomers around the globe. Our aim is to improve industry standards by ensuring you walk out of our academy fully qualified, confident and competent.
The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management will demonstrate to an employer or the general public that you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge to successfully groom a range of dog breeds. This will be a formal, regulated, nationally recognised qualification that will remain relevant throughout your career and can only be achieved by reaching the required skill level. It has been designed specifically for those looking to become professional dog groomers or those who already groom dogs (as a hobby or career) but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification.
A fast-track option is also available for experienced pet groomers seeking a formal qualification to confirm their skill level or those who have undertaken other qualifications but see the benefit in gaining the iPET Network seal of approval.
iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine Emergency First Aid
Course Cost £150 - Duration 1 Day
The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine Emergency First Aid is perfect for owners and professionals alike who want to be prepared should a pet need emergency treatment. This qualification is the first of it’s kind being a regulated qualification on the Ofqual National Framework.
The qualification covers the most commonly faced canine needs such as how to treat injury, dressing wounds, allergic reactions, stings, poisoning, choking, seizures, CPR, hypothermia and much more.
The qualification is an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning to ensure Candidates have the knowledge required should they ever be faced with an emergency first aid situation.
This qualification is valid for 3 years before requiring a refresher training day.
Each candidate will receive a recognised certificate for their learning.
Level 3 Cert in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling
Course Cost £2900 - Duration 15 Days
This NEW qualification is delivered over 15 days at our academy with practical and theoretical elements (with additional theory work to be completed at home). During the course you will groom a minimum of 10 dogs covering 6 different breeds but often many more. There are no pre-requisites to starting the course, meaning you can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.
No previous experience is required! Once you have gained this qualification, you can continue your studies and move onto the iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management and gain your ‘Fully Qualified Dog Groomer’ status.
On this course, you will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping and nail trimming.

This NEW qualification is delivered over 5 days in our school with practical and theoretical elements (with additional theory work to be completed at home). This course is the first step in learning all about dog grooming and trying your hand at some of the less complex styles. It is perfect for students who have little knowledge of dogs but who are interested in a career in dog grooming. It is also an ideal course for dog owners who wish to learn how to correctly groom a specific breed in a variety of styles.
During the course you will groom a minimum of 5 dogs covering 3 different breeds. There are no pre-requisites to starting the course, meaning you can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.

iPET Network Level 3 Award in Hand Stripping
Course Cost £250 - Duration 1 Day
The course will take you through the theory of wire and silk coated breeds and different hand stripping methods, techniques and tools to use and their benefits.
The qualification also covers the factors that affect Hand Stripping and after Hand Stripping care.

FT iPET Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management
Course Cost £999 - Duration 12 Months to complete (Fast Track Level 3)
This course is for experienced groomers would like to be able to say they are also qualified and have had their skill validated. Via the fast-track route, students complete theory work remotely and a portfolio of grooms at their own pace before undergoing assessment. You will complete 3 grooming assessments via Teams in your own salon environment making it a more relaxed process in achieving your qualification. We want to remove any learning barriers to ensure you achieve your goal of becoming qualified. As part of the enrolment fee you can attend one of our Canine Emergency First Aid dates at the school or you provide evidence of your previous achievement.
This is a great opportunity for experienced groomers to achieve Level 3 qualification status without the need for first completing a Level 2 qualification. This route is also ideal for students who hold the City and Guilds Level 3 Intro Certificate but who have not yet reached the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma.

Course Cost £1500 - Duration Online & Self Study
Experienced groomers looking to enhance and expand their skills and knowledge can now complete the first sector specific, level 4 dog grooming qualification. The iPET Network Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Dog Grooming is designed to teach and demonstrate advanced expertise in dog grooming styling skills for both breed standard and free style grooming. Those who achieve must demonstrate a high level of knowledge in relation to canine welfare, managing behaviour and business operations whilst developing their personal and professional development. This is a distance learning course which is available to study at your own pace allowing established groomers who have already achieved a level 3 diploma to work around their commitments whilst achieving this qualification.
